(Prensa Latina) The Venezuelan government is currently focusing its efforts on the construction of a new diversified and productive economic model, President Nicolas Maduro said.

During a meeting held yesterday with the Executive’s economic team, the President stated that ‘the oil-dependent model has come to an end and will not return.’

Maduro stressed that Venezuela is making great efforts to build a new economic, diversified, productive and technologically relevant model, to face the attacks of the right-wing, translated into induced inflation and cash deficit.

The Head of State recalled that the Venezuelan economy is currently suffering the exhaustion of dependence on oil production that the bourgeoisie encouraged for many years.

During the meeting, broadcast on a radio and television hook-up, Maduro urged the ministerial team to fight against the so-called economic war that emerged as a political strategy of the opposition to attack the Bolivarian Revolution.

He also announced a new deadline for the implementation of the monetary reconversion scheduled for August 20, as part of the economic recovery measures.
