This year, for the first time in the pageant’s 66 year history, a transgender contestant was in the competition. This year was also the first time that Panama sent an indigenous woman to the pageant.

And, that wasn’t all. The mixed gender panel was replaced by an all-female group of judges. This esteemed group consisted of former pageant title holders, industry experts, business leaders, and entrepreneurs.

Still, this doesn’t change that historically they are certain countries that have dominated the Miss Universe competition. If we were to look at the numbers, we would see that the United States and Venezuela have produced the most winners of this pageant. Since 1953, eight women from America have taken home the crown. Venezuela had 7 as of 2013. Puerto Rico is a close third, with 5 winners under its belt.

Although, the American streak is impressive. We argue that Venezuela is The Undefeated Queen of the pageant world. Not only does this country hold 7 Miss Universe titles, this country have won six Miss World titles, six Miss International competitions, and two Miss Earth’s.  In fact, some have said that beauty queens are the country’s biggest export.

And, who wouldn’t want to represent Venezuela in the Miss Universe pageant? These women gain fame, recognition, lucrative opportunities, and impressive cash and prizes. You may not be able to get the fame and recognition, but a visit to Betway 88 Thailand may help you with the cash and prizes part.

To attain these impressive achievements, many women try their best to fit the perfect ideal. Each contestant is coached in a variety of areas included a talent, fitness, modeling, and public speaking. Their dresses and makeup are usually handled by professional fashion designers and makeup artist.

For most of these women, the journey starts while vying for the Miss Venezuela title. In fact, a vast majority of the winners of this title go on to compete in the Miss Universe pageant.

There are schools and beauty factories for these contestants. In these places, girls as young as 5 are trained to be the next potential Miss Venezuela. They are given beauty tips, taught how to walk properly, as well as taught proper etiquette.

Once a candidate has been shortlisted to compete in the pageant, things are ramped up to overdrive. She starts an comprehensive training program that can last as long as half a year. This is where she will receive coach in modeling, makeup, physical fitness, speech, and the other skills that they will need to succeed in the competition.

All in all, this is great news for the pageant. The Miss Universe competition was started in the early 50’s as way to celebrate women and diversity. Its intended purpose was to help equip women with the tools necessary to be their personal best and it seems that the Venezuelans are taking full advantage of this credo.
